Chelsea FC are reportedly set to offer Willian a mega new contract as they seek to keep him at Stamford Bridge over the summer.

Shining among the horror show that has been Chelsea’s season until this point, Willian has been catching the eye with consistently impressive performances that have put his teammates to shame. On the back of this, the Blues are reportedly going to throw excessive money at the winger in the hope that he does not join what is expected to be mass exodus at the end of the season.

The Brazilian was the sole player to step up to the plate during the tumultuous first half of the campaign while he has continued to stand out as the club have improved under Guus Hiddink’s guidance. The Independent claims that the Chelsea brass are willing to offer Willian a lucrative four-year-deal worth as much as £120,000 per week.

"Chelsea have reportedly offered Willian a four-year contract on £120,000-a-week as they look to prevent an exodus in the summer with the club unlikely to qualify for the Champions League."

The crazy-haired forward has been carrying the Blues offensively this season, filling in for a largely non-existent Eden Hazard as the star attacking player. His seemingly fearless style of play has pulled Chelsea out of a couple of tricky spots, with his enterprising and pacey runs helping to shift momentum in contests that were leaning in the opposition’s favour.

Blues fans have rightly recognised Willian’s efforts this season, expressing joy at the fact that he has finally taken that next step and come of age. Fortunately, the Stamford Bridge officials agree and are eager to tie him down to a deal that should hopefully ward off suitors over the summer.

Given the likelihood that Chelsea will be without European football next season, many are expecting a mass exit when the new boss is instated at the conclusion of this campaign. There are many players that the supporters will be indifferent to seeing move on as the Blues look to reset and rebuild. However, Willian’s retention is something that they will undoubtedly be praying for.

There will inevitably be a number of offers on the table as clubs around the world seek to take advantage of Chelsea’s predicament. Consequently, Willian will be faced with a conundrum. His final decision will ultimately be dependent on the incoming Blues boss, underlining the importance of announcing one sooner rather than later.
