PSG Start Twitter War With Diego Costa ‘Fraud’ Jibe
As we close in on Chelsea FC’s huge European clash with PSG tomorrow night, the French outfit have started the virtual jousting on Twitter with a Diego Costa joke.
Chelsea and PSG square off in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash tomorrow night (as if you didn’t know) as the Blues look to cash in their away goal advantage. In the run-up to kick-off, the reigning French champions have landed the first punch with a Twitter jibe directed at Diego Costa.
Costa is one of the numerous Chelsea players forced into wearing a mask this season. PSG have used that as the base of the joke. They’ve put together a Vine which flashes images of a number of masked superheroes, slipping one of Costa into the mix. It’s accompanied by a statement imploring fans to spot the ‘fraud’.
I don’t know about you, but it is somewhat amusing.
Costa’s use of the mask was the result of a broken nose, picked up in training due to an unfortunate clash with one of the academy players. It’s safe to say that the youngster left an impression…
I’m here all week.

On a more serious note, though, the striker did train with the first-team squad earlier today, suggesting that he will be fit to start under the Stamford Bridge lights. Costa sat out the disappointing draw with Stoke City due to a minor tendon issue, but he has seemingly recovered in time for tomorrow’s big game.
The Blues will undoubtedly be relying upon their in-form marksman to bag the crucial goal that could send them into the quarter-finals. Having hit the back of the net in Paris, Chelsea know that a 1-0 win would see the club progress.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how the Blues’ social media team react to this. Perhaps they can post a Vine of all the PSG players who will force an exit in the summer? We’ll leave it to them.
For the moment, the tension and excitement is building ahead of the huge game. Since the first meeting three weeks ago, PSG have seen their ridiculous 36-game unbeaten streak snapped by Lyon. With a goalless draw against Montpellier at the weekend, can Chelsea capitalise on what could be perceived as (relatively) poor form?

One thing for certain is that a display similar to Saturday’s will not help. The squad will be astutely aware that big improvements are required all over the pitch tomorrow evening.
