2. Costa Reverts Back to Antics

One of the more pleasing storylines of the season was Diego Costa’s return to form. In the league winning campaign, Costa made himself one of the most feared forwards in the EPL because of his ability to score and get under his opponents’ skin.

During the early stages of this season though, he was still able to throw off opposing defenses, but the goals dried up. Just when Chelsea thought that they had been regifted with a consistent forward to lead the line, Costa once again caused a lot of fuss, with no goals to show for it.

Fans saw a glimpse of this in the first half, as Costa earned himself a yellow card for a flying forearm. Following the foul, the Everton defense zeroed in on him, being sure to close him down fiercely every time he was on the ball. Central defender Phil Jagielka even earned himself a rare yellow card in the first half due to Costa’s temperament.
