Out of all the destinations for John Terry once he finishes with Chelsea FC, Denmark is not the first one that springs to mind. He may well end up there, though.

As John Terry closes out his illustrious, extensive and simply legendary career with Chelsea, clubs around the world are putting together lucrative offers in an attempt to bring the defender to their ground. A move to Major League Soccer (MLS) has been touted, as has a switch to the in-vogue Chinese Super League. However, Danish outfit Brondby have emerged as an unlikely destination.

The owner, Jan Bech Andersen, is reportedly a friend of the Blues club captain and is apparently pitching him a move to Denmark. The Mirror reports that Andersen is looking to Terry to fulfill his vacant managerial position for the next campaign, with the prospect of being named player-manager possible.

"John Terry will be offered a quick route into management – at Danish club Brondby…Wealthy businessman Andersen has the funds to lure Terry to Denmark and would be willing to throw in the carrot of a player/coach role in the future."

Among all of the transfer rumours that have been doing the rounds recently, this has to be one of the most bizarre ones. Since Terry revealed that Chelsea are yet to have offered him an extension, a who’s who of big money football have supposedly been lining up to recruit him. From the United States to the Middle East to China, these clubs with seemingly limitless funds have been linked with the Englishman.

However, Brondby may be the dark horse in this particular race. Friendship can often result in weird things, as is attested to by Gary Neville’s appointment as Valencia manager. Hence, this Danish development cannot be ruled out.

If Terry were to do Andersen a favour and make the switch, the player aspect of the role will likely be key. Despite being the age of 35, the veteran has repeatedly stated that he has another couple of seasons left in him and that he is eager to carry on playing, no matter where he is.

Now, it should also be stated that there is a slim chance Terry will be in Chelsea blue for the next campaign. While the brass have not tendered an extension as of today, they have not explicitly ruled out offering him one further down the line. It is believed that they first want to confirm their managerial appointment and then base the decision on the incoming man’s preferences.
