Juventus are keen on turning Juan Cuadrado’s current loan deal into a permanent one and will send representatives to Chelsea FC in the coming week.

As the summer transfer window approaches (it is still a very long way off…), all the talk concerning Chelsea FC has been about high-profile talent making their way into the club. However, the latest report regards a potential exit with Juventus keen to secure Juan Cuadrado on a permanent deal.

The Colombian was sent to Turin for the season and has refound his form on the continent. The Daily Star cites Italian sources when claiming that his performances have been impressive enough for the Serie A leaders to consider converting his loan deal.

"Juventus will send representatives to London next week as they look to seal a deal for Juan Cuadrado. Italian news outlet Football Italia claim the Turin based outfit are keen to snap up the on-loan winger permanently."

This is some turnaround for the winger, who was seen as a laughing stock only months ago. Cuadrado moved to the Blues in January of last year for over £20 million. Unfortunately, he was nothing but awful in the minutes that he received with rumours even suggesting that he would be sold within six months of his arrival.

While that didn’t happen, the Colombian was sent off on loan to Juventus. Cuadrado has made 21 Serie A appearances for Massimiliano Allegri’s team, contributing three goals and five assists to the cause. It is safe to say that he has looked much more like the player whom Chelsea thought they had bought.

With that, the 27-year-old may yet have a future at Stamford Bridge. Antonio Conte is expected to be named the next Blues boss and he will undoubtedly evaluate all available talent before sanctioning any sales.

Having said that, the smart decision may be to negotiate a deal with the Italians. Cuadrado’s stock is high at the moment and Chelsea may be able to agree favourable terms at this point in time. Should he be afforded another chance in the Premier League and fail to take it, then the club can more or less write off the investment.

Amidst all this, it is pleasing to see the winger excel once again, given the difficult situation into which he was initially thrust. With Chelsea on the title march upon his arrival, Jose Mourinho provided him with few opportunities to acclimatise to the English game. He floundered helplessly and was ridiculed for it.

Now he is back playing close to his full potential and should he command a sizeable transfer fee, Chelsea fans happily would forget all about his poor performances.
