2. Cesc Fabregas

Spain have an abundance of talent. Their squad is deep and after the disaster that was the 2014 World Cup, they will be raring to go. Cesc Fabregas will again find himself in an intense competition for a starting spot and he has the ideal opportunity to impress Vicente Del Bosque this week.

Injuries and availabilities have led the Spain boss to name a somewhat weakened squad for their two fixtures. First, they travel to Italy for a clash with probable Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, before hosting Romania. Fabregas will likely feature heavily and will need to prove that he is a key member of this team.

The midfielder has come along since Hiddink’s arrival, pulling the strings for the Blues in this semi-resurgence. Having said that, he was previously so poor that even a minor improvement would have been celebrated.

With the likes of Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, David Silva, Koke and Juan Mata all set to be available in the summer, Fabregas will find it tough slotting in. Hence, he needs to put on sparkling shows, particularly against Italy.

Del Bosque will already take into account the experience factor when considering the Chelsea man, but the 28-year-old requires additional qualities in order to hold off the ridiculous talent vying for the spots.
