The latest transfer rumours have linked Chelsea FC with a move Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels. Youngster Domingos Quina, meanwhile, could leave.

While there are still many weeks left in this 2015/16 campaign, transfer rumours are already dominating the footballing world. This may be partly due to the fact that it is the international break, but nonetheless, they are everywhere. The latest reports link Mats Hummels with a Chelsea FC switch and youngster Domingos Quina with a departure.

The Hummels story originally stems from German outlet Sports Bild and has subsequently been reported by The Metro. Dortmund’s captain has supposedly been in contact with Blues officials with regard to a deal.

"Chelsea have made an approach to sign Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels in the summer transfer window…Sport Bild say the Blues have already made contact over a move for the 27-year-old who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014."

This is a highly speculative story. The defender has a title-calibre team under his charge in the Bundesliga and Champions League football to look forward to next season. As a result, it seems bizarre to think that he would trade that in for a go in an unstable and floundering West London club.

If Hummels is interested in money, then there will certainly be other teams around Europe willing to pay an appropriate amount for him. A switch to Chelsea seems improbable at best and this only lays bare the issues that this season will cause the incoming manager going forward.

Meanwhile, from an established star to a potential one, rumours are also doing the rounds regarding the future of Domingos Quina.

The 16-year-old midfielder has spent three years with the Blues, but the Daily Mail reports that he is set to move on this summer. He is highly rated by scouts across the Premier League and many of Chelsea’s direct rivals are getting ready to swoop for him.

"The 16-year-old is on the brink of leaving Chelsea and is now on the radar of a host of top-flight clubs…The talented teenage midfielder is wanted by Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham as well as both Manchester clubs."

While I personally cannot profess to knowing much about this youngster, this is a concerning report should it be true. Chelsea know that they will struggle to attract top talent over the summer due to this season’s travails, but it seems as though they could be losing talented youth prospects as well.

Furthermore, this will be less due to the recent performances, but more a consequence of the club’s inability to consistently push home-grown talent into the first team.
