Chelsea FC youngster nets for England in tight finish
Chelsea FC prospect Tammy Abraham hit the back of the net this afternoon as the England U-19 team managed to overcome Georgia with a 2-1 win.
The youngsters got started early today, with England U-19 taking on Georgia U-19 at 4pm UK time. The game was both sides’ first in the Elite Round of the European U-19 Championship Qualifiers and Chelsea FC youngster Tammy Abraham helped England register the win.
The forward got the Three Lions off to a flying start by putting them up 1-0 within eight minutes.
Tottenham Hotspur prospect Josh Onomah then doubled the lead mere moments later, with England boasting a two goal cushion before ten minutes had passed. Abraham was involved in this goal as well, being credited with the assist.

The Chelsea man went on to play the full 90 minutes for the U-19s, while Blues colleague Isaiah Brown played the first 79 before being substituted. Jake Clarke-Salter was originally named in the squad, but was withdrawn before the trip to Spain (where all of England’s U-19 games are being held this week) was made.
The fixture was seemingly dominated by England as they amassed 18 shots on goal. However, Georgia managed to pull one goal back with just over five minutes to go, undoubtedly leading to a tense finish.
This win gets Aidy Boothroyd’s men off to the ideal start as they seek to qualify for the tournament proper. During this stage, 28 teams are divided into seven groups. Each team plays their group members once and the seven group winners progress. They will be joined in the eight-team tournament by Germany, who are the hosts this year.

Hopefully, Abraham and Brown can continue to contribute meaningfully as they climb up the youth ladders. Both players are highly-regarded at Stamford Bridge, so it is encouraging to see at least one of them impress on the international scene.
