Chelsea FC have endured one of the worst campaigns in recent memory, but why did it go wrong? Is Antonio Conte the right man to fix it? Will he be able to?

It’s fair to say that this season will be quickly forgotten by everyone connected to Chelsea Football Club. Fans, players, coaching staff plus many more will have to write this campaign off as a blip and start from scratch in August.

Let’s go back to the summer of 2015. The Blues were crowned Premier League champions in May and were favourites to do so again this season. Everyone at the club knew that other teams would not accept Chelsea’s dominance from last term and that they would come back stronger. The team had to be prepared for this and therefore a good pre-season was vital.

In the next few slides, we’ll discuss the poor individual performances, the prospect of Antonio Conte and the outlook for next season. But first, about that pre-season…
