Next Season

The youngsters have to be used more next season. The likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Bertrand Traore and Kenedy need to be given more game time. Also players such as Izzy Brown, Dominic Solanke and Jeremie Boga who are coming back from their loan spells must be in and around the first team squad in order to gain experience and to play the odd game here and there.

Chelsea have won four of the last six Youth Cups and won last season’s Youth Champions League as well. They’re on the verge of reaching another Youth Cup final and are in the semi finals of the UEFA Youth League so there’s clearly talent there to be utilised.

With Champions League football for next season looking in doubt, will top players be attracted to a club not in Europe’s main competition or with they choose to go elsewhere? The Premier League is becoming harder and harder to win each year so there is no guarantee of winning the title like there is in France, Italy or Spain.

I hope Conte can transfer his enthusiasm to the players and make Chelsea a force both domestically and in Europe again. He might have the Europa League as an avenue through which to make the Champions League in two years’ time, but his target next season has to be to qualify through league position.
