5. Villa are sh*te

Editor’s note: Sorry, that’s a bit crude but I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate.

The Blues were always favorites to win and the fans will undoubtedly be delighted with a 4-0 road thrashing. However, Aston Villa are clearly in shambles and their season got only worse with today’s result. The fans showed multiple signs of their frustration, with the largest display being them holding signs saying “Proud History, What Future?”

Fans promptly threw those same signs on the pitch in a further show of dismay and desperation. It was a sorry and tragic sight for a club that has so much history. Villa are a huge team with a great fanbase, but much like Leeds United, they find themselves alienating the supporters and falling off a cliff. They will certainly be laying in the Championship next season and a lot of work is needed to ensure that they don’t wallow in the depths for a sustained period of time.

Meanwhile, the three points could also prove to be important for Chelsea as a faint chance of Europa League qualification still lingers. If the Blues are able to put together a good run of form to the end the season, a spot in Europe is up for grabs.
