2. City line-up
Manchester City come to Stamford Bridge on the back of a historic victory over PSG. Holding a slim advantage given their two away goals in the 2-2 first-leg draw, City welcomed the French giants to the Etihad expecting a tough contest. Bizarrely, Laurent Blanc’s tactics made for an abject PSG performance. The Citizens took advantage and won 1-0, progressing to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history.
They discovered on Friday that they would be facing Real Madrid in the next round and even though the first leg is over a week away, it will be intriguing to see what team turns up for the Chelsea game.
City are embroiled in a fierce battle for third and fourth position, with just four points separating them from fifth spot. Given that winning the Champions League is difficult to say the least, their best bet for qualifying into next season’s edition is through league position. Hence they cannot afford to slip-up.
With that, expect Manuel Pellegrini to field his strongest available team. The only issue for the visitors, though, is that they have a tendency to pitch up half-heartedly without warning.
