After a tough Chelsea FC season it’s time to look forward
By Rich Moody
Chelsea FC have been through one hell of a season, and not an excessively enjoyable one. However, the club must now look forward to the next campaign.
It’s certainly been a tough old season for Chelsea FC. There have been comings and goings with Jose Mourinho leaving us for the second time and Guus Hiddink replacing him to stable the ship once again. The Dutchman appears to have done so. However, while the Blues have managed to string a few wins together, they have also lost important games most notably in the FA Cup and Champions League.
Hiddink has brought that serenity back into the team once more. Over the last few months we have had the rumours about who will be our next manager. First it was Diego Simeone, then Massimiliano Allegri, Claudio Ranieri and finally Antonio Conte.
To be honest I don’t know too much about him, bar social media and press reports. All I know that he is currently the Italian national coach and hence I’ll be watching contently in Euro 2016 to see how he is as a manager. He is seemingly much different to Hiddink. A very passionate and fiery character who knows no bounds. I am pretty certain that all the players are going to be shell shocked when they meet their new boss.
Let’s hope that Conte can bring in some new blood which in turn will bring success back to the club once more. We all need the belief that this can happen no matter how difficult this season has been. I am sure that everyone at the club takes some responsibility for what has gone wrong. Many of the players seem to have held their hands up already and admitted they could have done better.
With the Euro 2016 championships taking place in June many have suggested (including the current boss) that they players are indeed holding back in preparation for this. However, the players should be showing that passion and enthusiasm to focus on every game and play to win. The supporters expect nothing less. They must go out and show the fans that they still want to win games, despite having little at stake.
Hopefully, during the last few games the players will show that enthusiasm to get as much out of the game as possible for our new manager. Guus has pulled those reins in and given that stability we sadly lacked. We have wobbled though at times but are slowly getting better, finally.
The season has almost finished. As we speak the club have only four games to go including a few that could in fact make a difference on who wins the Premier League. What a season it’s been for all concerned at Chelsea. Ups and downs, twists and turns. We’ve had Jose Mourinho, then Guus Hiddink and now waiting in charge after Euro 2016, Antonio Conte. But we all must remember this…
Come rain or shine, Win, lose or draw, Forever Blue, Chelsea Blue.
