2. Liverpool dominate early

The opening stages of the match saw the hosts really try and put Chelsea in an early hole. Liverpool started strong, basically imposing their will on the visitors.

Daniel Sturridge was looking to get on the scoresheet against his former club, and had a couple of dangerous chances early on. Roberto Firmino, meanwhile, wasted a chance that saw him through on Asmir Begovic.

For all the momentum the hosts had built early, there was no goal to show for it. This allowed Chelsea to gain some footing, and balance the game a bit. Traore looked lively, asking some questions of the Reds’ defense with his pace and quick first touches. Eventually, a moment of brilliance put Chelsea ahead.
