Chelsea FC’s 10th place finish in the just concluded 2015/2016 season has had several negative implications; the worst title defence in EPL history, absence of European football for the 2016/2017 season for the first time in 20 years, worst points total since the 1995/1996 season and so on.

The confirmation of Antonio Conte as the new Chelsea boss on a 3-year contract from next season couldn’t have come at a better time. But one fact remains undeniable; the enigmatic Italian has a massive rebuilding job on his hands, even factoring in Guus Hiddink’s admirable attempts to steady a ship that was literally on the verge of sinking under the management of the toxic Jose Mourinho.

And in carrying out the rebuilding process, Conte has several key areas which need to be addressed urgently.
