The latest Chelsea transfer rumour sees Patrick Bamford linked with an exit as Newcastle United reportedly prepare to make a bid for the striker.
The future of Patrick Bamford continues to be up in the air with the latest reports suggesting that Newcastle United may be willing to take him off Chelsea FC’s hands. The striker has had a tumultuous season and is reaching a vital point in his career.
Local Geordie outlet, Chronicle Live, claim that Newcastle are eyeing Bamford as a key target as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
"Newcastle United’s striker hunt may lead them back to Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford, who is available this summer. United want a new forward to lead the line next season."
While Chelsea’s first team had an abominable campaign, Bamford did not have the greatest of times either. He was initially sent to Crystal Palace for a season-long loan, but he failed to break into the starting eleven. Furthermore, the few opportunities that he did receive resulted in some awful displays.

The loan was then terminated prematurely in December and he was shipped out to Norwich City by the end of the winter transfer window.
Bamford was restricted to 2 starts with the Canaries, but he did look substantially better at Carrow Road.
However, after winning the Championship’s player of the year award in 2014/15, it has been some fall from grace. It was hoped that he would kick on after that breakout campaign, but he has taken steps backwards instead.
At the age of 23, Bamford has reached a crossroads in his career. His next move, whether it be on loan or on a permanent basis, must be fruitful.
In that case, a switch to St James’ Park may be a smart one. Rafa Benitez has committed his future to the club and with that, the Toon have a good chance of bouncing back immediately.
Furthermore, playing in a lower league will give him an opportunity to reinvigorate himself in what should be slightly easier circumstances.
