Youri Tielemans et al.
Another player that Chelsea have been linked with recently is the youngster from Anderlecht Youri Tielemans. He is widely agreed upon across Europe to be one of the hottest young prospects in European football. He is the youngest Belgian player to have ever made a Champions League appearance and from his highlight reel does seem to be a wildly talented player.
This rumor, though, stinks of agent-bargaining-type malarkey. Chelsea already have a couple of the most talented young players in Europe in this position in Lewis Baker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. If Chelsea were to sign Tielemans it would probably be a buy and re-loan type of situation and fewer and fewer players are agreeing to that with Chelsea due to the fact that so many of their careers end up stagnating.
Tielemans is without a doubt one of the best prospects in Europe but the random nature of this rumor leads me to believe it won’t happen. That said if the player wanted to join the loan army I’m sure Chelsea would be more than willing to accommodate him.
Chelsea reportedly had a £32 million bid for Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes rejected. Valencia are apparently demanding £42 million for the player and that seems like good value to me.
The all-action midfielder is great on the ball and a good passer and I think the combination of him, Cesc Fabregas and Loftus-Cheek (in the DM where he wants to be and belongs) would be a very interesting combination.
The fact that he would go for less than half the fee of Pogba makes this very interesting and seeing him play at Chelsea could absolutely become a thing of the future.
