Raul Meireles: 2011-2013

Appearances: 48
Trophies: Champions League, FA Cup

Raul Meireles came to Chelsea from Porto by way of Liverpool. Despite staying only one year, Meireles left his mark on the club en route to the Champions League title in 2012.

Meireles was dissatisified at the club’s dismissal of fellow countryman Andre Villas-Boas, but stayed with the team through the remainder of the 2011/12 season. He did a stunning impersonation of a Number 9 in Chelsea’s quarterfinal tie with Benfica, scoring a screamer to finish off a box-to-box solo run. He then started both legs of the semi-final against FC Barcelona, before missing out on the title game due to suspension.
