NANJING, CHINA - JUNE 19: (CHINA OUT) Ramires

Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires has resurfaced in the news after a bizarre incident that saw him absolutely flip out at a Chinese referee.

Ramires switched to the Chinese Super League in a mega mid-season move six or so months ago. Since then, we haven’t heard much from the former Chelsea midfielder. However, he has burst back on the scene in bizarre fashion.

Currently plying his trade for Jiangsu Suning, the Brazilian lost his temper with a referee after being sent off.

Wow.

The incident happened after the final whistle at well. Jiangsu Suning had just been sunk 2-1 by Shandong Luneng Taishan. Evidently, the nature of the loss was fairly controversial as Jiangsu Suning coaches and players can be seen accosting the referee.

Then, out of nowhere, the official glides over to a visibly frustrated Ramires to brandish a red card.

This caused the 29-year-old to lose his mind. Not even five of his teammates were able to restrain him as he attempted to make a beeline for the man in charge.

No idea either mate.

The Chinese outfit parted with around £25 million in order to secure the Brazilian’s services back in January. Ramires joined a number of other high-profile stars making their way over to the Far East as the Chinese Super League put its face on the footballing map.

Ramires has scored four goals and assisted one more in 17 league appearances. His efforts have helped Jiangsu Suning to second place in the table.

With some suggesting that the lucrative move signalled an end to the player’s competitive fire, this footage indicates otherwise. The combination of the result, the circumstance and the dismissal sparked a short fuse in Ramires’ mind.

In fact, it’s hard to recollect the Brazilian being involved in a similar incident in a Chelsea shirt.

Nonetheless, hopefully the next time Ramires pops up in the news, it is for more positive exploits.
