Chelsea fans haven’t seen new signing Michy Batshuayi play in a blue shirt yet, but they are already warming to him due to his entertaining social media accounts.

Michy Batshuayi is already endearing himself to his new fans via his social media channels. The striker is yet to take the field in a Chelsea shirt, but his musings online have already provided considerable entertainment.

Batshuayi took the Instagram on Saturday to show the world why he won’t become a surfer.

It is safe to say that he was never close to being one.

Also, I can’t be the only person wondering what’s on the other side of that slope/hill/jump thing, right?

Before you all toodle off to follow him on Instagram, I just want to recommend his Twitter account as well. Michy Batshuayi is a joker on that, too, frequently interacting with fans in under 140 characters.

Hopefully, this light-hearted confidence can translate into results on the pitch. For the men in front of the opposition goal, self-belief is probably the most important factor behind success.

Radamel Falcao and Jamie Vardy are examples of how confidence can benefit or ruin your form. Batshuayi, even in a joke, is showing that he is more than comfortable with his talent.

Especially given the often-difficult transition to the Premier League, the Belgian will need to back himself. Add the British media into the mix and strikers need bulletproof skin in order to succeed in the long term.

It will be interesting to see when Batshuayi gets a chance to prove his words right, though. Diego Costa will probably be the number one forward for Antonio Conte. Hence, the new signing’s involvement will depend upon the formations that the boss employs.

Nevertheless, even if he does sit on the bench for the first few weeks, just chuck him a phone. I’m sure his live-tweeting of a game has the potential to match the entertainment provided by the 22 men on the pitch.
