Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer is heading up north for the season. The academy prospect will join Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan.
The Chelsea loan machine is not showing signs of slowing down under new boss Antonio Conte. After Tomas Kalas was sent to Fulham for next season, Kasey Palmer will join him down in the Championship. The Blues confirmed that the youngster will be developing his game at Huddersfield Town for the year.
The 19-year-old would not have been part of first-team plans this season and thus has been loaned out to get some regular football under his belt.

In this instance, this could prove a beneficial move. Kasey Palmer has been a fixture in Chelsea’s youth success over recent years. The 19-year-old has helped the academy win the U21 Premier League, in addition to two FA Youth Cups and the UEFA Youth League.

Palmer scored 16 goals from his attacking midfield role in 30 games last season, cementing his status as one of the club’s brightest rising stars.
Chelsea now recognise that his progression will be hindered by further action in the youth ranks. Hence, they have tendered him out for the season. Huddersfield have been a mainstay of the Championship for the last four seasons and should be able to provide Palmer with the competitive minutes he needs.
Hopefully, the midfielder will boost the Terriers and help them finish in the top half of the table for the first time since they were promoted.
While Tomas Kalas’ move was an evident step backwards for the talent, this is a deal that makes sense for those involved. Wasting away on the first-team bench at Stamford Bridge would only frustrate and suffocate Palmer and his development.
In order to fulfill the vast potential that the club sees in him, Palmer must be able to hone his game regularly at a sufficiently competitive level.
With the Championship’s unpredictable nature, it presents the perfect environment for Palmer to test himself against quality opposition.
