On the back of a season-opening win, Chelsea travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford this weekend. With both teams under new management, the contest will be an intriguing one. Let’s take a look at the recent head-to-head clashes.

0-0, Premier League, 03/02/16

The most recent contest between the sides ended in the most dire of scorelines. Chelsea and Watford battled each other to a 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road.

Chelsea had their chances, but heroics from Heurelho Gomes prevented Branislav Ivanovic and Diego Costa from hitting the back of the net.

Interestingly, this was the first fixture after John Terry revealed that the club had not offered him a contract extension. Evidently, the weight of emotion affected the team’s display while  fans showed their support for the captain throughout the game.

Despite being Chelsea’s seventh Premier League game without defeat, Guus Hiddink was criticised for his lack of action. The interim boss only used one substitute, bringing Eden Hazard on for Nemanja Matic in the 73rd minute.

Given the lack of goals, I haven’t bothered providing highlights for the game.
