Chelsea’s loan army had a relatively tame weekend, with only two players getting on the scoresheet. Jeremie Boga scored Granada’s only goal in a drubbing, and – of course – Tammy Abraham scored for Bristol City.

Death, taxes and a Tammy Abraham goal. That’s pretty much what Bristol City fans are counting on these days as Chelsea’s loan to the Robins continues his powerful start. Abraham and Granada’s Jeremie Boga were the two Blues to get on the board for their foster teams this weekend.

Jeremie Boga scored a goal that can best be described as Hazard-ous. The 19-year old received the ball about 40 yards out from the goal. He drove in hard, and cut sharply to his right just above the box. After a few strong steps across the face of goal, he blasted a right-foot shot across his body to the bottom corner of the net.

Boga’s strike drew Granada level with Las Palmas going into halftime. Unfortunately for Boga, Las Palmas ran rampant through the second half, defeating Granada 5-1. Granada fell to 0W-1D-1L on the young La Liga season.

Back in England, Tammy Abraham did what Tammy Abraham does. Bristol City’s top man earned Man of the Match honors for equalizing the game with his fifth goal of the season and adding an assist in the Robins’ 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Abraham induced sumptuous dreams about Chelsea’s 2019/20 starting XI, where he and Michy Batshuayi strike atop a 3-5-2. Abraham was in perfect poaching position in the six-yard box, ready to punch in a loose rebound surrendered by Villa’s goalkeeper.

Two minutes later, Abraham showed his versatility as a playmaker. He slotted the ball between two Villa defenders, allowing Joe Bryan to elude a third and pot the winning goal.

With the international break underway, Chelsea’s loan army will be the main source of action for the next few weeks. Hopefully these final few days of the transfer window will not see any new additions to Chelsea’s lost boys.

It’s not that we don’t like seeing them in highlight clips. We would just be more excited if they stood a reasonable chance of someday having the opportunity to create some scenes in Blue.
