Chelsea starlet Andreas Christensen talks up Bundesliga, in interview with Bundesliga…
Chelsea starlet Andreas Christensen took some time out to speak about how the Bundesliga compares with the Premier League.
Antonio Conte spent September getting to grips with the extent of Chelsea’s defensive troubles. Meanwhile, star defender Andreas Christensen has continued to impress on his loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach.
With the international break now upon us, the youngster managed to find some time to speak with the Bundesliga website. He was eager to praise the German league when comparing it to the Premier League.
"Perhaps defences are more disciplined in the Premier League. It’s not easy to create chances in England, but that’s where the Bundesliga stands out as a real spectacle. Almost every game is played at a breathtaking tempo, back and forth, attack and counter-attack, again and again. One other thing that differs is the training culture in the Bundesliga. It’s a lot tougher here than in the Premier League. It’s really hard work here."
Given that this is an interview given exclusively to the website of the Bundesliga itself, the favourable comments are not overly surprising.

Nevertheless, his words do help him convey a genuine delight with his situation in Germany. Gladbach seemed to get the better end of the deal when they initially agreed a two-year loan at the start of last season. Now into the latter half of the stint, the German outfit could claim that they struck gold.
Christensen has been magnificent for Gladbach, developing at a rate that has surpassed expectations. In fact, there was a lot of wishful thinking from fans over the summer, as they hoped Chelsea would be able to terminate the loan prematurely and bring him back.
The Dane has never explicitly expressed a desire to return to West London and this latest interview does not bring a change in stance. Christensen is evidently over the moon with the opportunity to play regularly in one of the world’s best leagues. Furthermore, the strides he has taken and the tangible rewards he has reaped only renders the switch more beneficial.
While he has been afforded stability at Gladbach and in the Bundesliga, his colleagues have been shipped around the globe, changing clubs once a season at the least. Christensen clearly appreciates that his situation is different.
The key for Chelsea, though, is to make sure that he returns to Stamford Bridge and remains there. He is one of Gladbach’s most important players, hence he will not take lightly to sitting on the bench with the Blues.
Christensen knows that he now has the quality to start every week for a top European team. If Chelsea try to mess him around, he will be off in a flash. His bags are already halfway out the door.
