Chelsea head to the other side of town to the London Stadium to face West Ham United in the EFL Cup. Will the Blues take another step towards Antonio Conte’s first piece of English silverware?

Chelsea has all the momentum coming into this EFL Cup London Derby. The Blues’ previous cup tie was the 4-2 extra time win over Leicester City. That match was a watershed moment for the Blues as performances at the King Power Stadium resulted in some players’ accession to the Premier League starting XI.

Our writers are across the board optimistic that the Blues will put on quite a show at the London Stadium and cruise into the EFL Elite Eight. This game’s assist comes from @LazarZindovic.

Laz: 3-1 Blues. Cagey first half with a goal for each team before we come out stronger in the second half to score twice. Whatever the outcome Chelsea fans won’t stop singing for 90+ mins!

Scott Brant: 0-1. The West Ham supporters will show more fight than the players. Chelsea win and keep the clean sheet streak alive!

Daniel Mcclue: 1-2. West Ham’s new stadium makes this more of a neutral ground. Both teams ring in the changes for the whatever-it’s-now-called-cup and Chelsea’s depth > West Ham’s. Michy Batshuayi and Nathaniel Chalobah with the goals.

Andre Carlisle: 1-2.  I began to exorcise my powers of black magic prior to the Leicester match. Things have worked well, but as they’re still new, I have no idea how long they’ll last and it’s the EFL Cup – I’m allowing them the day off. If Chelsea lose you may blame me, but choose your words carefully unless you think having an octopus tentacle for a nose would be an aesthetic improvement.

Ben Croft: 1-3. Given that it is the first London derby at West Ham’s new stadium, the atmosphere will be electric and could help West Ham. But Chelsea are in such good form at the moment that should not be a factor. John Terry, Willian and Michy Batshuayi to score.

Elkebir Lamrani: 0-2. It could be worse for West Ham. Maybe a borderline cricket score. However Antonio Conte will select a slightly weaker team by integrating some youth and some fringe players. West Ham clearly don’t feel at home in their new stadium and Conte comes in smelling blood. He is going to unleash second-fiddle-to-Diego blood-sniffing-hound Michy Batshuayi to hammer the Hammers.

George Perry: 0-2. Desperate for Premier League playing time, Chelsea’ s back-benchers will play with a Conte level of #passion. Il Sarto will happily face difficult decisions as he sketches out future starting XI’s.

Travis Tyler: 0-3 Chelsea. West Ham are having new stadium blues and have barely beaten relegation candidates. Chelsea are flying high and will have the advantage regardless of which players they field.
