Chelsea’s loan army had a productive day across England, including a statement win in west London. Lucas Piazon, Tomas Kalas and Tammy Abraham scored yesterday for their foster clubs.

Fulham avenged last week’s loss to Aston Villa by putting five goals over Huddersfield Town at Craven Cottage. Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon scored two of Fulham’s three first-half goals. Fellow Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer was on the sorry side of the 5-0 scoreline, playing all 90 minutes in centre-midfield.

The win was Fulham’s largest since another 5-0 victory at home to Norwich in 2012. That match came in the Premier League, where the two teams finished the season one point apart mid-table.

Kasey Palmer and Huddersfield Town are on a bit of a skid. After a strong start to the season they have lost three of their last six. Remarkably, they are in third place in the Championship despite having a -1 goal differential.

Tammy Abraham got back on the scoresheet for Bristol City after a brief hiatus. Abraham gave the Robins a 2-1 lead late in the second half. But Bristol City conceded the tying goal in stoppage time. The Robins have only one win in their last four games.

Coincidentally – or perhaps not – Abraham had been on a four-game goal drought until today’s tally at Barnsley.

After dominating the early-season, Abraham’s nine goals now have him in second among the Championships’ top goal scorers. Dwight Gayle has 11 goals for Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.

There was no word if anyone from Chelsea’s management or front office staff made the short journey to Craven Cottage to watch Fulham’s fixture. In Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic’s estimation, proximity plays a large role in Chelsea loanees getting attention from their parent club.

If ever there was a game Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon would have wanted to see Michael Emenalo and friends in the stands, yesterday was it.
