Travis Tyler: Eden Hazard v Tottenham Hotspur, 2016

It may be strange for my favorite goal to be one that won another team a title. But everything around it is what makes it so sweet.

Spurs had to win at Stamford Bridge to keep their title hopes alive against the Cinderella story that was Leicester City. So what was their game plan? Apparently to be as aggressive as possible; so much so that the game has been called The Battle of Stamford Bridge by some.

Not only did Hazard’s goal cause a rival, that became much more hated that day, to lose the title, but it also marked the end of what was the worst Chelsea season since the 1980s.

After almost an entire season of poor form, Chelsea played like contenders that day. Eden Hazard looked like his old self all of a sudden. He marked the occasion with this goal. Hazard started the move within Chelsea’s half, moved his way through a Spurs press, passed off to Diego Costa, who returned the ball to Hazard in the box.

Hazard then curled it right into the top corner. Cue a rush of euphoria that followed such a dirty game and a poor season.
