Ramires has cited Jose Mourinho’s sacking as the principal reason for his Chelsea departure in January. The midfielder currently plays in China.
Ramires brought his Chelsea career to an end in the January transfer window. Speaking about his Stamford Bridge exit, the Brazilian pointed towards the sacking of Jose Mourinho as a significant factor.
In an interview with Goal (via Metro), Ramires revealed the close relationship he had with the Portuguese tactician and how his dismissal affected his morale in West London.
"I always had a very god [sic] relationship with Mourinho, so much so that things become complicated for me at the club when he left. I remember he wanted to count on me since he was at Real Madrid and it was a pleasure to work with him."
Ramires spent five and a half seasons with Chelsea, during which he won multiple trophies. He won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League over his 246 competitive appearances.

When Mourinho left, Guus Hiddink relegated Ramires to a back-up role. It was evident that the Brazilian was down the pecking order when it came to the caretaker’s list of midfielders.
Recognising this as an opportunity, Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning came in with a bid reportedly worth around £25 million. Chelsea accepted it and Ramires was able to work out (lucrative) financial terms.
Ramires has turned out 38 times for Jiangu Suning and matters appear to be going well. That is if you disregard the bizarre lashing out at a referee…
Nevertheless, the midfielder left Blues’ fans with some notable memories. The one that will immediately spring to mind is his deft chip against Barcelona. During Chelsea’s fairytale 2011/12 Champions League run, Ramires stepped up at the Nou Camp on that magical evening to score a vital goal.
Enough talking, let’s just watch it again.
It’s a shame that Ramires’ Blues career would end in such a low key fashion. Having said that, it was appropriately representative of the player he was. The midfielder would quietly go about his job and, importantly, get it done.
Whether or not he is playing in China for the money, he certainly deserves that big payday.
