Diego Costa and Chelsea will resume discussions regarding the striker’s contract next week after both parties made peace.
Chelsea and Diego Costa may have agreed to a truce, but the matter isn’t going away that easily. In the latest chapter of the Diego Costa controversy, the Blues are set to reopen negotiations with the striker regarding a pay rise.
According to The Sun, the Blues will sit down at the table with Costa next week as they try to keep him in West London on reasonable terms.
"SunSport understands he only agreed to a truce on condition the club reopen negotiations over a new contract. Costa was encouraged to make peace with boss Antonio Conte by his advisors and did so when it was confirmed talks on a pay rise will resume next week."
Costa has reportedly been offered a deal worth £30 million per year to play in China. Naturally, he is using this bid as leverage to get a better Blues deal.

Chelsea blamed last week’s issues on disagreements over Costa’s fitness. However, the rumoured offer from China certainly factored into the situation. Now that the ill-feeling has dissipated, the club are willing to return to the negotiating table.
Costa’s situation is win-win. Chelsea will either bow to his lucrative demands, or he takes off to China for a couple of years to earn unimaginable sums of money.
Chelsea’s decision, on the other hand, is more difficult. Tianjin Quanjian is offering a transfer fee in the region of £80 million. Conte could make good use of that money by reinvesting it smartly in several players.
Furthermore, Costa is nearing 30-years-old and is also injury-prone. From a business standpoint, it makes a lot of sense to take this deal and let him leave.
What do you think the club should do? Should Chelsea give in to his terms? Or just tell him to go to China…
