Chelsea are considering an audacious move for Arturo Vidal as Antonio Conte continues to build the Blues in his image.

Chelsea are flying high at the top of the Premier League and progressing well in the FA Cup. However, Antonio Conte is still looking for ways to make his team better. The latest reports claim that the Blues are plotting a move for Bayern Munich midfielder, Arturo Vidal.

According to the Metro, Chelsea are putting together a near-£60 million bid for the Chilean superstar.

"Antonio Conte is reportedly very keen to fork out as much as £56million to seal the transfer of Arturo Vidal. The Chile international has long been regarded as one of the best players in the world in his position."

Vidal joined Bayern Munich two summers ago, making the switch from Juventus. He has carried on forging his impressive reputation in world football, turning out nearly 50 times and helping Bayern to a league and cup double in 2015/16.

However, is Vidal worth such an exorbitant fee? At the age of 29, the midfielder is towards the tail end of his prime. There are probably a couple of high level seasons left in him before his skills start to wane.

£60 million could probably buy Conte two young and exciting midfielders. With Chelsea’s midfield already packed with talent, this appears like the smarter option.

Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas have been on top form for the Blues this season. Furthermore, players like Nathaniel Chalobah are waiting in the wings to impress and become an integral part of the squad.

Bearing that in mind, splashing £60 million on Vidal is a waste of resources. Having joined Bayern under two years ago, the Germans are unlikely to let him go for much under. What do you think? Should Chelsea pursue Vidal? Let us know in the comments below!
