Arturo Vidal shoots down Chelsea transfer rumours
Arturo Vidal is not having any of the rumours linking him with a Chelsea switch, claiming that there is ‘no reason’ for him to leave Bayern Munich.
Arturo Vidal is one of those players who is consistently linked with transfers. Despite playing for Bayern Munich, the tabloids cannot help speculating over his next destination. Chelsea are the latest club supposedly in the hunt, but Vidal has moved to dismiss all the talk.
Speaking to German publication, SportsBild, the midfielder claimed that he has ‘no reason’ for departing Bayern.
"I played four very successful years under coach Conte at Juventus. But there is no reason for me to leave Bayern. I wear this jersey with pride. I feel happy, my wife feels happy, and the children are happy. And I still have big goals in Munich. – via Daily Mail"
Vidal joined the Bundesliga champions in the summer of 2015, having forged an impressive reputation at Juventus. He has since become a vital part of the Bayern engine, making nearly 50 appearances last season and being on track for a similar tally this term.

The Chilean is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world and hence it is natural that transfer rumours constantly surround him. However, he seems nonplussed by the speculation and incredibly firm in his position.
The key bit of his statement is that regarding his family. Once your family and children are settled and happy, it is hard to suddenly move to a new country.
Furthermore, Bayern Munich will likely be happy to keep him on. There is no reason for the club to offer Vidal out and hence the Blues will need to target the player personally for any deal to happen.
Chelsea do need to purchase a midfielder in the summer, too. Currently, Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas are doing a great job. However, injuries to any of the three creates nightmares for Antonio Conte.
With Champions League football inevitable next season, the Blues need a stronger squad. They require players of Vidal’s quality to come in and challenge the starters. That sort of competition forces everyone to raise their game.
Chelsea are coasting at the moment while their rivals continuously slip on banana skins around them. In European football, the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich will not be as careless. The additional fixtures will also cause Conte to rotate more than he has been doing.
