Cesc Fabregas has revealed just how much he is currently enjoying his football at Chelsea under Antonio Conte’s fresh tactics.

Chelsea are in a good place and, after much toiling, Cesc Fabregas is enjoying his football again. The Spaniard said so himself in his latest interview, lauding the fresh tactics that Antonio Conte has brought to the table.

Fabregas has been made to work for his place, but he now seems to have won Conte over. Speaking about his role in team, Fabregas revealed the extent to which he is loving playing football in this system.

"I’m really enjoying my football right now in this position, in this system. It’s more of a double pivot that we are playing now. You touch a lot of the ball, you control games, and I like it a lot because you play a lot with the ball, you can play forward, and I’m enjoying it a lot. I’m very happy and I hope I can improve more. – via chelseafc.com"

If anyone has embodied what Antonio Conte wants from his players, Cesc Fabregas is a good example. The midfielder was initially not in the Italian’s plans, with Nemanja Matic consistently preferred to partner N’Golo Kante.

However, Fabregas got his head down and put in the work on the training field to adapt his game to Conte’s needs. He was rewarded last weekend with his first Premier League start since December and thoroughly impressed against Swansea City.

With a back three behind him and Kante by his side, Fabregas has much more freedom to use the ball. The onus is on him to split open defences, not protect the defence. Whether it be in the cup or the league, Fabregas has shown just how suitable he is for the role.

More than anything else, a happy and integrated Fabregas is an asset for the Blues. He has proven himself to be a world-class act throughout his career. Chelsea’s creative resources in midfield are relatively thin, with Fabregas being the sole source of imagination.

Conte will almost certainly push for more midfield reinforcements over the summer. However, Fabregas will become the senior statesman in the team. With all his experience, he can help the Blues navigate a busy European-augmented schedule.
