Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante have been declared frontrunners for the PFA Player of the Year award, according to the latest Sky Sports poll.

As the season draws to a close, attention is partly turning to the annual gongs. The PFA Player of the Year is one the most prestigious awards in English football and two Chelsea stars are favourites for it. N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard seem set to battle for the title.

Sky Sports created a poll for football fans to order the candidates in their preference. Kante came out on top, while Hazard slotted in behind the Frenchman.

"N’Golo Kante is the SkySports.com user favourite with 27,000 votes, followed by Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard (21,000) after a fine season for the Premier League leaders."

The duo have been in scintillating form for the Blues during their ascent to the top of the Premier League. Kante has replicated his performances from last season to be the engine for Chelsea while Hazard has rediscovered the skills that were thrown out of the window last year.

Rightfully, both are being considered for the PFA award and the it appears that fans across the league agree.

With some time still to go before the winners are announced, this could act as a gentle motivation for Hazard and Kante. Chelsea still have work to do to get over the line as champions. With a seven-point lead, Antonio Conte will need all the motivating power he can muster to ensure his team maintain a high-level of performances.

Given that two of his key players are seemingly in a duel for this award, Conte could use that as a tool to drive them on. There are compelling cases for either player to win, so these last few weeks could be significant in determining who picks up the gong.

The only other player that could come close to the duo is Dele Alli. The Englishman has been fantastic for Tottenham and has all the makings of a star player. However, Alli will likely have to settle for the Young Player of the Year award this time.
