Chelsea transfer targets to prevent a repeat of Manchester United loss

Wingback
Recent weeks have shown the wingback position to be the one of most concern. The 3-4-3 relies heavily on effective wingbacks on both sides. The absence of one wing-back substantially weakens the side, as Chelsea showed without Victor Moses or Marcos Alonso.
Moses and Alonso should maintain their place in the starting XI. Both have shown unexpectedly high quality. But their replacements must be at a similar level.
Chelsea have several options in house. The most obvious one is Nathan Ake as a left wingback. However, if Conte cannot trust using him against United over making several back-line changes, then it is difficult to consider him as an option going forward.
The Pedro experiment was a failure and should not be revisited. Azpilicueta has proven capable in a pinch on the right but poor on the left. Ola Aina may as well be a ghost these days.
Chelsea have been linked with two AS Monaco fullbacks: Djibril Sidibe and Benjamin Mendy. The Blues will not be getting both by any means, but either would add the high-quality depth at wingback that Chelsea will need next season. Sidibe should be the priority if Chelsea must choose as he has more experience playing on either side of the pitch.
