Chelsea take on Tottenham in a make or break contest
By Vishnu Raj
Chelsea take on Tottenham in not only a FA Cup semi final, but in what seems like a make or break point for the Blues’ season.
Chelsea take on their Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley on Saturday. These two teams had met in the 2012 FA Cup semi final as well where the former won comprehensively 5-1. Both teams have come a long way since.
Chelsea, after once holding 10 point league lead, are now in a serious juncture. The lead is just 4 with 6 games left to play. Just 20 points from the last available 30 points have given serious hope for Spurs who have been flying high even when Harry Kane has been unavailable.
Considering Chelsea’s current form this match has every chance to make or break their season. A victory today would be huge, especially as it would be against their biggest threat for the title. It would halt the momentum of Spurs.

Even though Manchester City are in good form right now, Chelsea will feel confident in defeating them considering they completed the double over them only two weeks back. They also dominated Arsenal, who are in a considerable bad run, two months ago. Hence, defeating an in-form Spurs side would present a very good chance to win the FA cup for the 8th time.
However, there are many obstacles to overcome. Injuries that were not troubling the Blues during the bulk of the campaign have suddenly popped up at this important time. Victor Moses, Thibaut Courtois, Gary Cahill and Marcos Alonso have all been struck down in recent days. Tottenham, meanwhile, have their top scorer in Harry Kane back.
A win today for Chelsea will boost their confidence in the title race while it could act as a sucker-punch for their opponents. But a loss can not only knock Chelsea out, but it can also affect their performances in the final 6 matches. This really is a make or break point.
