Chelsea officially closed the curtain on the 2016/17 campaign with the club award ceremony. Eden Hazard joined Frank Lampard in an exclusive club of three-time player of the year recipients.

Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante split the player of the year honours at Chelsea’s end-of-season awards. Hazard won the Yokohama Chelsea Player of the Year award for the third time. Only Frank Lampard had previously won the award three times in the 50 years the club has given it.

N’Golo Kante added a fourth player of the year award to his tally for the year. The Chelsea Players’ trophy now sits alongside his Premier League, Football Writers Association and PFA player of the year awards.

Eden Hazard also took home Goal of the Season honours for his one-vs-six display against Arsenal. He won the same award last year for his curler that sunk Tottenham’s title hopes.

"Normally after the game I do not watch my goals back but when it is a goal like this, for one week I watched it every day. – Chelsea FC"

Karen Carney was the Chelsea Ladies Player of the Year in her second season with the club. The Blues defeated Liverpool 7-0 yesterday to move within one point of the FA Women’s Super League lead behind the Merseysiders. Carney scored her third goal of the season in the win.

Among the youth, Mason Mount won the Academy Player of the Year award. Mount is a nominee for the Premier League 2 player of the year, despite splitting his time between Chelsea’s PL2 squad and the U18’s. Mount captained the U18’s to their fourth – and his second – consecutive FA Youth Cup.

Following the ceremony, the Blues likely scattered to the wind to start their summer vacations. Thibaut Courtois will likely appear courtside at the remainder of the NBA playoffs, while Cesar Azpilicueta and N’Golo Kante are rumoured to be training for a half-Ironman, just to keep their fitness levels up over the summer.
