Romelu Lukaku has moved past playing hardball and being coy, and is now in the “I’ve got a secret” stage of his transfer saga.
Romelu Lukaku put his twist on the game “Guess Who?” while talking to the media after Belgium’s friendly with the Czech Republic. He’s thinking of a team… in the Premier League. They will be competing for… the Champions League! His goal is to…. win trophies!
And when asked flat out if he was moving to Chelsea, Lukaku responded with a happy chuckle and a wink. Hopefully Everton, Chelsea and Mino Raiola will secure this deal soon before Lukaku hurts himself trying to keep the news somewhat under wraps.
"My agent knows what’s going to happen. I know what I want to do, and whenever something happens, you guys will know…I’m staying calm and we have an agreement with the club as well. – SkySports"
Romelu Lukaku has supposedly agreed to personal terms of his transfer, with the clubs now hammering out the amount of his fee. Everton – even more so than usual – will take a hard line on Lukaku’s fee. Lukaku is more than their best player – he is by far their biggest source of offence and wins. Without the Belgian, the Toffees would be among the masses of mid-table clubs rather than hanging off the top six. They will need every pound to lure two or more players to replace him.
Everton may demand follow-on payments from Chelsea as part of the transfer, as well, if Lukaku hits certain milestones like a minimum number of goals or a Champions League title. They will make Chelsea pay many times over for selling Lukaku in the first place and now wanting him back.
The Blues should not just roll over to meet Everton’s demands, but their priority should be securing the transfer rather than cutting a perfect deal. Romelu Lukaku can have as much a role in Chelsea’s future as he would at Everton. Chelsea have more the future he wants, and his once and future club should not delay the move if talks are already this far along.

Eden Hazard’s broken ankle raises the stakes for Chelsea to sign a goal-scorer. Chelsea will need to compensate for his absence in the early days of the season. Having a potent centre-forward alongside or in place of Diego Costa will cover the gap that Hazard’s absence creates.
