Chelsea will reportedly demand as much as £10 million in compensation from Liverpool for academy stand-out Dominic Solanke.

Dominic Solanke has already agreed terms with Liverpool, but the Reds won’t be getting away with a free lunch. Chelsea reportedly want £10 million in compensation.

Solanke is due to leave the Blues as his contract comes to an end. But regulations surrounding home-grown players under the age of 24 mean the two sides must agree on compensation..

According to the Standard, Chelsea will propose that a sum of £10 million is appropriate.

"Chelsea were originally expected to ask for around £8m, but Standard Sport understands that Solanke’s role at the Under-20 World Cup will be added to their case and increase the sum to £10m plus."

Solanke has been one of the academy’s brighter prospects throughout the years. He spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Vitesse, scoring seven goals.

However, he remained at Stamford Bridge for the past campaign and did very little. The striker failed to take the field for the Blues. It is no wonder that he jumped at the opportunity to join Liverpool.

He showcased his talents this summer, earning the Golden Ball at the U20 World Cup. Now, he needs to kick on and play regular football.

Chelsea, though, are holding that against him as they try to draw as much money out of Liverpool. The Reds are far away from that valuation and the compensation package will probably be set by a tribunal.

From Solanke’s point of view, it will be a shame for this deal to fall through. Jurgen Klopp is building an exciting, young team. The striker will thrive in such a set-up.
