Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been referring to a mystery young transfer target. Rumours suggest that it is Chelsea’s Charly Musonda.

With Nathan Ake and Bertrand Traore leaving Chelsea permanently, Blues fans are wondering if any more youngsters will be moved on. According to the latest reports, the dismantling of the academy will continue with Charly Musonda close to a Celtic move.

Brendan Rodgers has been talking about a talented youngster that the Bhoys are in talks with. Now, Scottish publication The Daily Record report that Musonda is indeed that man.

"Celtic are lining up a £5million move for Belgian wonderkid Charly Musonda. The Hoops are preparing to pounce for the highly-rated Chelsea youngster who has spent most of the past two seasons on loan in La Liga with Real Betis…Rodgers remained tight-lipped on the Musonda link but admitted he’s close to landing a top-drawer playmaker."

Musonda is another Chelsea prospect who is tipped for big things. However, like most of his contemporaries, he will not get a chance at Stamford Bridge and will have to move on.

If this deduction is valid, then Musonda has lucked out with a Celtic switch. Rodgers is building a fine team across the border, despite the limitations of the Scottish Premier League. Celtic went unbeaten in the league last season and won both the League and FA Cups, landing a domestic treble.

Moreover, they impressed in Champions League play, holding Manchester City to two draws in the group stages. Rodgers has galvanised the club and is looking to put Celtic back on a pedestal.

Musonda would be a perfect candidate for his project. The dynamic midfielder fits right in with Rodgers’ free-flowing attacking tactics. As the Hoops look to make a deeper run in Europe next season, Musonda could add quality strength and depth to the squad.

However, it is once again a precocious Chelsea graduate leaving before getting a chance. Blues fans are used to this by now and the only thing you can say is that a permanent move is better than another loan.
