The Borussia Dortmund CEO has stated that time is running out to strike a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal. Chelsea are set to fail once again.
Chelsea brought relief to their fans when they finally announced the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko. However, attention has turned to their next potential acquisition. With Diego Costa due to leave the club, the Blues need a marquee replacement. Time is running out on the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang front, though.
Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has revealed that he is open to a deal, but he will not wait much longer.
"We have told Auba if he wants to move somewhere, and if he has a club willing to meet our demands, then come to us and we’ll talk…We would clearly need to get a replacement for him, which is difficult to impossible in any event. We will wait for a couple more days, but not for much longer. There are no offers on the table for him so far. – via Metro"

Aubameyang has reportedly already been offered to Chelsea for around £70 million, but little news of advanced negotiations have surfaced. With Romelu Lukaku a Manchester United player, the club are running out of potential candidates.
The Dortmund striker would be a great fit in West London, but Blues management run the risk of being timed out. What Watzke is saying is completely fair and there is no reason to doubt that he will indeed shut up shop soon enough.
The Germans do not want to be stuck in the position that Chelsea currently find themselves – their main striker is on his way out and they are scrambling to recruit a suitable replacement.
While Chelsea have also been linked with Andrea Belotti and Alvaro Morata, neither of those deals appear more likely. Aubameyang has been offered on a plate but the club have not yet taken advantage.
Unless the board are secretly making solid progress on other fronts, a failure to sign Aubameyang will be inexcusable. The asking price is high, but the Blues were prepared to pay as much money for Lukaku. Additionally, the Morata rumours value the Spaniard in the same ballpark.
