Manchester City will not sell Sergio Aguero to Chelsea, according to the latest reports. But why would you think otherwise anyway?

As Chelsea continue to desperately search for a replacement for Diego Costa, rumours have suggested that a deal for Sergio Aguero may be on the cards. To repeat, these rumours claim that Manchester City could sell one of the most prolific strikers in Premier League history to a direct rival.

Well, the Evening Standard report that will categorically not be the case, as Pep Guardiola isn’t that stupid.

"Manchester City will not consider selling Sergio Aguero to a direct rival amid speculation that Chelsea could make a shock move for the striker…But while a player of Aguero’s calibre would interest the Premier League champions, Chelsea know that City would not sanction a move – even if their attacking options were to swell further with the potential arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal."

For all the dreamers out there, sorry.

Aguero would be a fantastic signing for the Blues. The 29-year-old has proven himself to be one of the world’s finest strikers over the last decade. With around 170 goals in approximately 250 competitive appearances for City, Aguero has been the spearhead of their modern success.

He would even be considered an upgrade on Costa and his arrival would firmly put Chelsea in the mix for European success.

It is for those reasons that City will never sell him to the Blues. This is like selling Eden Hazard to Manchester United. There is no way this deal is happening.

So, as the tabloids continue to troll Chelsea with speculative stories about signing Aguero and Cristiano Ronaldo and bringing Diego Maradona back from his prime, the fact of the matter is that the club are still desperate.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang currently seems the most likely signing. The Borussia Dortmund CEO has stated that he is willing to do business, but he has set a deadline of next Monday. Chelsea need to move fast to complete a deal while fending off a number of interested parties.

The club have also been linked with Alvaro Morata, but it appears that he is more keen on a move to AC Milan. Chelsea are running out of time.

As for Aguero, City just don’t care. They have made a number of smart moves in their ascent to the top. No-one in the club’s management set-up is boneheaded enough to even entertain the thought of this transfer.
