Chelsea are currently searching for wingback to provide competition to Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso. Antonio Candreva, though, has rubbished rumours of a move.
With Antonio Conte suggesting that a new signing may join Chelsea in Singapore, rumours are speculating about the mystery man’s identity. The Blues are in the market for a wingback, but apparent target Danilo is now a Manchester City player. Antonio Candreva has since been linked with a switch, but the Inter Milan man has rubbished such talk.
"The links with Chelsea are nice, but there’s been absolutely nothing to date. The club will take care of any bids that may come in."
While Candreva is traditionally a winger, he’s been viewed as a potential wingback convert much like Victor Moses. There are few genuine targets out there for Antonio Conte, so the Blues must pursue players who could be moulded into the role.

Alex Sandro is the other actual wingback in the news, but he doesn’t appear to be available. Candreva is front and centre as a result.
However, as is the nature of transfer rumours, there seems to be little substance to the reports. Candreva has heard nothing in the way of a formal approach and there is no reason to think otherwise.
More importantly, he is wholly behind the direction of Inter Milan. Speaking about his current club, he feels nothing but pride and confidence.
"I’m proud to wear this shirt, I’ve bought into an important project here and I’m happy to be here."
If the Blues are actually interested in making a play for his services, Candreva will be a tough man to lure away from Inter. Chelsea would need to put together an eye-watering financial package and guarantee regular football.
With the performances of Moses and Alonso, it is hard to follow through on the latter. Candreva is unproven in the position and Blues fans will be justifiably enraged if Moses is blindly shunted in favour of the new man.

To put it simply, this deal just isn’t happening. Candreva has no interest in leaving Inter and Chelsea should not bother making any excessive effort in signing him. Do you agree? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below!
