Chelsea transfers: 5 realistic targets the Blues should pursue
Chelsea have done some business, but they are still in need of a few more arrivals before the season starts. Here are five realistic targets the Blues should pursue.
Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata for the first team this summer. However, the squad still needs more bulking if the Blues are to challenge on all four fronts this season. Here are five realistic targets.
1. Sergi Roberto – Ajitesh Rasgotra
The most pressing matter for Chelsea at the moment is adding depth to the wingback position. Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso are the incumbents, but the departure of Nathan Ake and loan move for Ola Aina leaves them desperately thin.
Sergi Roberto is a name that has recently been doing the rounds. With a release clause reportedly around £35 million, this is a deal that could definitely happen.
Roberto became a regular under Luis Enrique, but Chelsea could take advantage of a change in management to lure him to West London. With a relatively low release fee, the Blues can at the least chance their arm and enter negotiations with the player.
A very lucrative package and promises of regular football will likely be necessary, but Roberto is worth it. After all, time is running out for the Blues to sign the wingback they so desperately require.
