Chelsea transfers: 5 realistic targets the Blues should pursue
4. Fernando Llorente – Max Hodder
Another name that has popped up in numerous transfer rumours has been Fernando Llorente. Although not a marquee signing, Llorente could be a very interesting option for Chelsea, and having previously worked under Conte at Juventus, the two have an already strong relationship.
Llorente, standing at 6’4”, would provide a very different dynamic to Morata and Batshuayi, a more target man type of striker. He could be a good option for Conte to turn to at the end of games.
His heading ability could be called upon in games where Chelsea are under the pump, as he could provide an excellent outlet for the defence. This ability in the air is shown by is very impressive 8 headed goals last season, compared to Diego Costa’s 2.
Additionally, Llorente would be quite a cheap option, with reports he could be snatched for around £15 million. Stealing Llorente from Swansea could also allow Chelsea prospect Tammy Abraham to inherit more minutes, with him perhaps becoming Swansea’s regular number 9 for the upcoming season. This would obviously help increase Abraham’s growth exponentially.
Due to Llorente being such a different option to the quicker Morata and Batshuayi, whilst also opening up more minutes for Tammy Abraham, it seems like a fantastic idea to at least try and sign the 32-year-old. Vamos Conte, get this one done.
