CRISTIAN CUEVAS. 0. Called in to replace Kenedy in training, Cuevas has never been in the picture for Chelsea first team involvement. Chelsea signed him in 2013 for reasons unknown and he has had a series of highly unsuccessful loans. However, he is a left-sided defender by trade and that means he can fill in for Kenedy in training. Beyond that, expect another unsuccessful loan in the future. Chelsea just might let him go for free after his contract runs out. But that’s not how Chelsea operate.. DF. Chile

5. Pasalic has had a stellar record serving in the loan army. He played regularly for Real Betis, Monaco and AC Milan. Reason suggests that Chelsea will be able to use him as depth in midfield. However, he seems set to either rejoin Betis to replace Dani Ceballos or perhaps join Conte’s pal Massimo Carrera at Spartak Moscow. Conte may yet change his mind depending on how the market pans out, so it all hangs in the balance for Pasalic. While he is in the last year of his contract, he is expected to sign an extension.. MF. Croatia. MARIO PASALIC

5. Just a year ago it seemed that the United States U20 international might force a move away from Chelsea after falling out with then-U18 coach Joe Edwards. But he has since made nice and trained with the first team last season. He will probably never see the pitch for the first team next season, but maybe Conte has seen something in the youngster and wants to keep him around. He is due a loan given that he is 19 years old. But maybe spending time training with the first team is not the worst thing for him right now.. MF. United States. KYLE SCOTT

F. France. JEREMIE BOGA. 3. Due to injuries to Pedro and Charly Musonda, Boga has had a good look in so far. While he has had flashes of brilliance, he has also shown that he is not nearly the finished article. Boga has had a couple of bad loans so he needs to break that cycle. Maybe he has impressed Conte enough in pre-season to earn a spot with the first team, but he will not be seeing a lot of game time come the season. He may have to decide which is more important for him. He is one of the standout talents of the academy but Chelsea have not been able to find the proper platform for him to excel. Hopefully he has a better season this time around.<br />

7. Charly Musonda, like Kenedy, returned from a bad loan last January and has since stayed and trained under Conte. An unfortunate injury prevented him from getting game time so far in pre-season, but he might get a look in against Inter on Saturday. Conte has had the opportunity to appraise Musonda and is reportedly impressed. He also has been given a squad number for the upcoming season. Indications are good that he will stay for the upcoming season.. MF. Belgium. CHARLY MUSONDA

England. LEWIS BAKER. 5. Baker was set to sign a new contract and leave on a two year loan. Baker showed in his two years at Vitesse that he can be a game-winner. But he needs to play at a higher level with better players to showcase his talents and prove that he can eventually replace Cesc Fabregas. The departures of Matic and Chalobah opened a spot in the squad for a homegrown midfielder. Again depending on how the market works out for Chelsea, he might end up staying.. MF

France. LOIC REMY. 0. He played a crucial part in Chelsea’s title winning season under Jose Mourinho, but his patchy injury record has kept him from consistent game time both at Chelsea and on loan at Crystal Palace. He will be hoping to seal a permanent transfer away from the club this summer. He has been training with the first team, which sorely lacked center-forwards until Alvaro Morata’s arrival. Now that Morata is here, he is no longer necessary and will be actively pursuing a move away.. ST
