Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was absolutely atrocious as Arsenal were battered by Liverpool, proving why Chelsea should stay away from a deal for him.
Chelsea will be very busy this week as the transfer window deadline fast approaches. The Blues are on the lookout for a midfielder and a wingback (at least) in order to beef up their thin first-team squad. The club have been linked with a move for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The rumours have split opinion, but the Englishman’s role in his club’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool prove that Chelsea must steer well clear.

Currently, Antonio Conte’s main wingback options comprise of Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses. Cesar Azpilicueta has deputised as an emergency alternative, but the boss is worryingly short in that department.
The Blues have tried to attract the likes of Alex Sandro and Antonio Candreva, but no deals have materialised. With time winding down, they are in a bit of a desperate situation.
However, Chelsea cannot let that desperation force them into a deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 24-year-old was thrust into the position towards the end of last season. Unlike Victor Moses, he hasn’t quite taken to it like a duck to water.
Chelsea Beat Everton: Blues enter the international break free of a crisis and palpable discord
On Sunday afternoon, he was one of the worst players on the pitch as Liverpool ripped a pathetic Arsenal team to shreds. Gary Neville, on commentary for Sky Sports, summed up the Gunners perfectly.
"I’d stick them all up on the transfer list. Some of these Arsenal players want a move. Who would buy them? – The Telegraph"
Who would? Hopefully not Chelsea.
Oxlade-Chamberlain left gaping holes behind him and failed to track back with any intensity as Arsenal crumbled. It was the lack of effort that should put Chelsea off most. It is no insult to beaten by Liverpool, but players like Oxlade-Chamberlain did not put up a fight.
With Conte’s mantra of work, work, work, the last thing he needs is a player who is not willing to fight for his club. Oxlade-Chamberlain is not up of the required quality to challenge Alonso and Moses. He doesn’t appear to have the required personality either.
