Tiemoue Bakayoko – B

Chelsea, like many other top clubs, gracefully accepted the opportunity to rip apart Leonardo Jardim’s over-achieving Monaco side. The club decided to bring in Tiemoue Bakayoko to replace Nemanja Matic, who was understandably sold to our DIRECT rivals.

Bakayoko was one of the stars of Monaco’s campaign which saw them dethrone PSG to win Ligue 1 and also reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. He forged a fantastic partnership with Fabinho and has fellow Frenchman, N’Golo Kante, beside him at Stamford Bridge.

He made 35 appearances for Monaco last season, and racked up a modest 3 goals and 1 assist. He had a pass completion percentage of 87.4%; particularly impressive for a combative midfielder.

Bakayoko promises to be much more than a mere replacement for Matic as the towering Frenchman possesses all the necessary qualities for a central midfielder. Of course he’ll be handed the task of shielding the back 3, but Conte would expect him to spray passes to the frontmen too.

His strength and technical ability, coupled with the fact that the ubiquitous Kante will partner him, leaves him perfectly poised to take his game to the next level.
