The transfer drama isn’t over yet! With the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday, Fenerbahce are looking to take Chelsea’s Diego Costa on loan until January.

You can never escape transfer rumours. Even though the window is closed in most of Europe, Turkey is still open for business. With that, Fenerbahce are reportedly keen on loaning Diego Costa until January. Such a move would benefit both the player and Chelsea.

According to the Evening Standard, Costa’s lawyer has been in the Turkish capital to explore this opportunity.

"Fenerbahce are trying to convince rebel Chelsea striker Diego Costa to join them on loan until January. It has been reported in Turkey that Costa’s lawyer Ricardo Cardoso has been in Istanbul for the past three days to negotiate a move."

Costa has been in self-imposed exile for the last few months. Ever since Antonio Conte texted him to inform him he was not needed, Costa has refused to return to Cobham. Instead, he’s been desperately pressing for an Atletico Madrid move. That failed to materialise on transfer deadline day, meaning that this saga drags on.

The striker has been asked to train with the U21s in order to keep up his fitness. Out of pride or in retaliation to the way he was unceremoniously disposed, Costa has refused to play ball. His value has dropped with each passing day as Chelsea become ever more desperate to get rid of him.

Given that Atletico were unable and/or unwilling to bring Costa back to Madrid, the Blues face the prospect of dealing with his petulance for four more months.

However, Fenerbahce can solve a lot of problems by taking him on loan. Costa’s heart is still set on Atletico, but the Spaniards are under a transfer embargo until January. By joining the Turkish side, he can play regularly and keep match fit in the interim period.

He has been carrying out his own training regime in Brazil, but nothing beats training and playing with a team. For Atletico to be willing to sign him, he must ensure that he keeps his standards up. That involves maintaining his match sharpness.

Fenerbahce have come seemingly out of left field for this deal, but they could significantly help the Blues. The last thing Conte needs is repeated questions about Costa while he tries to prepare for two games each week. If Costa is in Turkey, he is out of the way.
