5. Zappacosta or Moses?

Chelsea forked out £25m for Torino and Italy international Davide Zappacosta on deadline day. The deal had shades of a panic buy, only being concluded with minutes to go.

The club also clearly paid over the odds for the Italian due to the board’s failure to land other high-profile targets such as Dani Alves, Danilo, Antonio Candreva and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. However, Antonio Conte clearly admires him, as it was Conte who handed him his first call up to the national team.

Victor Moses on the other hand enjoyed a stellar season under Conte as he displaced Branislav Ivanovic from the starting XI and never looked back. He replaced Ivanovic’s waning instincts with his pace, dribbling and surprisingly good defending. Along with Marcos Alonso, he formed a formidable wingback duo and played a pivotal part in the title-winning season.

It would be interesting to see whether Conte keeps faith in Moses and waits to give Zappacosta a chance in a relatively easy game, or throws him in the deep end by giving him 45 or even 30 minutes against Leicester City.
