Tiemoue Bakayoko may be new around Stamford Bridge, but the midfielder is acutely aware of the importance of Sunday’s game to Chelsea fans.

Arsenal may be struggling (yet again) this season, but their clash with Chelsea has not lost any significance. The Blues will be eager to pile on the misery for Gunners fans when they visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Tiemoue Bakayoko may have only just joined the West Londoners, but he fully knows what the supporters are expecting.

Speaking to the club website about the game, Bakayoko shared his awareness of Sunday’s importance.

"These sorts of matches above all are really important to the fans, and if there’s a lot of importance that is riding on this game then it probably comes from the people associated with the club and the fans and what it means for them living in London."

This London derby is perhaps the biggest of the numerous local games the capital has to offer. The storied history of both clubs make Chelsea and Arsenal the two biggest teams down south. Moreover, previous feuds between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho only added to the weight.

While the Gunners have started this season in hilarious fashion, the prospects of stealing points from the Blues will rev them up. Previous form goes out of the window when these two teams meet.

Bakayoko will be in the heart of the contest when the first whistle blows. He will likely be in the centre of midfield alongside N’Golo Kante. Understanding the significance of the contest is a key part in helping Chelsea put on a good show.

Arsenal will probably be looking to take control early, but a fast start from the Blues could push them over the edge. The Gunners are infamous for their fairly regular and highly entertaining collapses. If Chelsea can score within the first 15 minutes, a cricket score could be on the cards.
